Wrinkles are folds, creases, or ridges in the skin. Sun damage, smoking, dehydration, some medications, and genetic and environmental factors all contribute to the formation of wrinkles, and treatment methods vary depending on what caused the wrinkle to appear. Some wrinkles are the result of volume loss that can occur as we mature, while others are caused by daily muscle movement. At DermaHealth, we offer a variety of effective treatments to restore volume loss, stimulate collagen reproduction, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers (commonly referred to as a “liquid face-lift”) are a nonsurgical approach to shaping, contouring, and adding volume to the face, hands, and other areas prone to wrinkles. At DermaHealth, we offer Radiesse®, Restylane®, Perlane®, Juvederm®, and BeloteroBalance® dermal fillers. Developed with safety and longevity in mind, dermal fillers offer superior versatility for both cosmetic and reconstructive treatment and are an ideal approach for those who want to minimize wrinkles without undergoing surgery.

When injected, the product reshapes facial contours by replacing lost volume, providing immediate visual improvement. Dermal fillers act as a collagen substitute. Because fillers are natural, fully biocompatible substances already present in your body, there is minimal risk of an allergic reaction.  In most cases, you can return to routine activities immediately following the procedure. Fillers offer immediate results – the effects are softer lines, smoother skin, and fuller features. Depending on the injection site of the dermal filler, this treatment will last 6 to 18 months.

Traditional fillers are soft substances, liquids, or gels that are injected into the skin to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, plump lips, fill out cheek hollows, and repair other facial imperfections. They work by filling out the space below the wrinkles, replacing lost fat. Fillers can be injected into the dermis or subcutaneous layer of the skin, depending on the filler and treatment goal.

Collagen stimulators help replace the collagen your body naturally loses as you age. Collagen stimulators are injected into the dermis or subcutaneous layer, filling the spaces where collagen has been lost. The newly produced collagen provides a structural framework to hold hyaluronic acid and elastin and helps restore the dermis. Hyaluronic acid attracts water molecules to the dermis and restores skin moisture. Elastin provides elasticity and helps the skin stretch.

Sculptra Aesthetic

Sculptra® Aesthetic is a type of dermal filler used to replace facial volume loss and has been relied upon for years by patients in the AIDS community to restore mass muscle volume. Sculptra Aesthetic goes deep into the skin tissue, stimulating the body to rebuild and replace lost collagen, correct shallow to deep facial wrinkles and folds, and add volume. This treatment provides a more refined appearance and can last up to 25 months or more. By rebuilding the lost foundation, the skin is smoother and drapes more naturally over the bone structure. Note: This product is not intended for use on the lips or around the eyes.

Inhibitors or Neurotoxins

Dysport and Botox are inhibitors that stop the daily muscle movements that create expression lines. Botulinum toxin is used to weaken muscles and minimize dynamic lines. Both Dysport and Botox are injected directly into the muscle, affecting only lines caused by muscle contractions. The most common locations of injection are frown lines, crow’s-feet, and forehead lines. Years of squinting, concentrating, or frowning can cause your skin to furrow and crease. Smoking, straw use, and pursing your lips contribute to muscle breakdown. As time passes, your skin becomes less elastic, and those frown lines remain. The forehead, crow’s-feet, upper lip, and lower jaw muscles respond very well to this type of treatment.

The first injection typically softens the wrinkle lines. By the second or third treatment, wrinkles are blended into the surface of the skin, resulting in a smoother, more natural appearance. They are NOT fillers that plump the lines – rather, they inhibit the muscle from responding to expression commands. Used properly and correctly, inhibitors reduce the aging effects while still allowing you to smile, resulting in a more natural appearance. DermaHealth will customize the treatment to fit your needs and budget.
